The third day began in the warm and verdant surroundings of Colpapampa, often called the “la cima del Bosque Nublado.” After a delicious breakfast at 6:00 AM, we set out on a more relaxed hike compared to the previous day.
The trail took us through the breathtaking high jungle, where we encountered vibrant orchids, begonias, bromeliads, and even medicinal plants unique to the region. The warm, sunny climate and dense vegetation of this valley create the perfect conditions for growing high-quality coffee, adding a rich aroma to our journey.

After around 15 kilometers and six hours of hiking, we reached Playa Sahuayaco (2,064 meters / 6,772 feet), where we enjoyed a well-deserved lunch and a short break. From there, we hopped on a bus to Lucmabamba (2,017 meters / 6,617 feet), our campsite for the night.
In the afternoon, there was an optional visit to the thermal baths of Cocalmayo in the nearby town of Santa Teresa (1,700 meters / 5,577 feet). Those who opted in were treated to a relaxing soak in the warm, soothing waters—a perfect way to unwind after the trek.
Back at the campsite, we settled in for the evening, enjoying another hearty meal and preparing for the adventures of the following day, which would lead us onto the famous Inca Trail.
