Our final morning in the tropical high jungle began with a hearty breakfast to fuel us for the day ahead. The trek kicked off with a challenging two-hour ascent to the Llactapata Amazonian Inca Trail.
At Llactapata (2,740 meters / 8,989 feet), we explored the ruins with our guide, who shared fascinating insights into the hidden history of the Incas. From the lookout point, we enjoyed a breathtaking and unique view of Machu Picchu Archaeological Park (2,430 meters / 7,972 feet), along with the iconic Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu mountains in the distance.

The next leg of our journey was a steep two-hour descent to Hidroeléctrica (1,890 meters / 6,200 feet), where we stopped for a well-deserved lunch at a local restaurant. The day concluded with a scenic walk along the railway trail, leading us to the charming town of Aguas Calientes (2,020 meters / 6,627 feet).
In Machu Picchu Pueblo, we had time to rest and prepare for the highlight of the trek—the visit to Machu Picchu itself. The evening ended with a final group dinner, where the guide shared details and tips for the much-anticipated experience awaiting us the next day.
